A note from Mrs. Liston,

I would like to congratulate the children for their progress during last few weeks.  As you know they have started to only speak Chinese in the classroom.  They have done very well and have worked hard at only speaking Chinese.  We are still doing the DoJo points in the classroom and the students are getting rewards for their efforts. Please continue to encourage your child to speak Chinese only in the classroom. This will help greatly in their progress to speak Chinese.

Jan 13-17

Parents,

It's pretty amazing to get to work with your children everyday. They impress me with their ability to help each other, and continue to push hard to learn. Thank you for the privilege to have them in my class.

This week, I will continue to do reading testing. These results will be shared with you at parent teacher conferences (Feb 5-7), and will help me instruct your child on their level.

We would like to welcome Mrs. Hamaker into our English classroom. She is a student teacher from UVU. She will be with us until the middle of March.

A note from Mrs. Liston,

We started "Speaking Chinese only" in Chinese class. Please check the DoJo point and encourage your child to speak Chinese in the class and practice Chinese at home. We would also like to encourage you to help your child review Chinese through using the online program or flashcards (you can print the flashcards from our blog http://chinesewithlistonandwayman.blogspot.com/2013/03/flashcards.html   Chinese Flashcards Folder).

If you have any questions, please let me know. Thank you for your hard work to help your child.

Jan. 6-10

Parents,

Welcome back! We are excited to get back to work, and to see all those smiling first graders! We have missed each one of your children and hope you all had a wonderful break.

This week, I will begin reading testing. After this is done, I will adjust students take home reading levels, Raz-kids, and reading instruction. Please help me insure your child is "warmed up" and ready for this test. Continue to read with them nightly for at least 20 minutes.

A note from Mrs. Liston,

Happy New Year! In January, my teaching goal will focus more on students speaking Chinese in class. Please check your child's Do-Jo point more often and encourage him or her to speak Chinese in Chinese class to earn more Do-Jo points. You can encourage your child to speak Chinese in Chinese class by giving him or her small rewards daily or giving him or her bigger rewards weekly. Thank you again for all of your support and please continue helping your students to learn Chinese.
