Pin Yin Pronunciation Helps

These are common phrases that the children are saying in class. Pin yin is listed first and then my own version of the phonetics in the next column (phonetics in parentheses for the numbers).

Key sounds to remember:
i -i is a buzzed continuation of the consonant following z-, c-, s-, zh-, ch-, sh- or r-. Most of the time it just makes an "r" sound
a as in "father"

ei  "hey"
ao ow as in "cow"
ou as in "so"
an as in "ban" in British English (a more open fronted a)
