Re: 1104-1108 Chinese class

Parents,

We have just two weeks left in this first term. It's amazing to reflect on the progress made so far! Thank you for your efforts and practice at home. Reading everyday brings obvious results into the classroom.

October reading calendars are due. Please turn them by Monday. If you lost the calendar, please print a blank calendar and record days read.

A note from Mrs. Liston,

Dear Parents,

It has been a wonderful week. The students enjoyed the Halloween party on Thursday.  We read a Halloween Pumpkin story in Chinese. I would like to thank all of you who were able to help us with the Halloween party.  The students had a lot of fun.

In math, the students have learned how to add up to 20.  The students still need more practice to increase their skills. You can help your child by practicing at home.

Homework:

Math- Subtraction homework (4 sheets)

Chinese- Reviewing 1-4, reading and writing lesson 5

Reading: Continue reading 20 minutes every night, and record on the November calendar.

Life Skill: Know how to tie shoelaces. There may be a pop quiz with a reward!

In class, we are learning:

Math- Addition and subtraction strategies to 20

Chinese-Lesson 6 I love my family

Science & Social Study-Change over time

Writing- Narrative Story (review of all parts; details, temporal words, sequence, punctuation, capitalization, 3 events)

Reading-Stop and Think (Does it make sense? Look right?)

Phonics- silent e with "a" and "i" (long vowel sounds say their name)

Spelling Words: make, cake, made, game, same, bike, white, nice, time, ride
