Re: 1202-1206 Chinese class

 

Parents,

 

I hope you all enjoyed your time with your families during the Thanksgiving holiday. It's hard to believe we only have 3 weeks of school before we are off for Winter Break. We have a lot to learn in that short time.

 

November reading calendars are due by Wednesday this week. Watch for December calendars on Monday.

 

Mark your calendars for December 20th. We will have a Christmas Sing Performance (whole school). Details to come!

 

A note from Mrs. Liston,

Dear Parents,

 

Starting January 15, 2014, the students will be required to speak Chinese only in the Chinese classroom. We will begin to encourage the students to speak Chinese only and not speak English in the Chinese classroom. Thank you for your support.

   

Homework

Math- no homework (Parents can go to the website http://connected.mcgraw-hill.com/connected/login.do to help your child practice subtraction- Chapter4)

Chinese- Reviewing Lessons 1-7  

Reading-Continue reading 20 minutes daily

Life Skill-know home address, phone number (at least one), and how to tie shoes

 

In class this week, we are going to learn:

Math- Chapter 4 Subtraction strategies to 20

Chinese-Lesson 8 what date is it today?

Science & Social Study-Benefits of nutrition & physical activity  

Writing- persuasive writing (3 reasons to support)

Language Arts-pronouns, past, present and future verb tense

Reading-Review of all reading strategies (Leap Frog, Running Start, Puzzle, Stop and Think, Say & Slide, I Spy)

Phonics- blends with r

Spelling Words: brown, green, pretty, grab, grin, frog, from, put, she, they
