Jan. 6-10

Parents,

Welcome back! We are excited to get back to work, and to see all those smiling first graders! We have missed each one of your children and hope you all had a wonderful break.

This week, I will begin reading testing. After this is done, I will adjust students take home reading levels, Raz-kids, and reading instruction. Please help me insure your child is "warmed up" and ready for this test. Continue to read with them nightly for at least 20 minutes.

A note from Mrs. Liston,

Happy New Year! In January, my teaching goal will focus more on students speaking Chinese in class. Please check your child's Do-Jo point more often and encourage him or her to speak Chinese in Chinese class to earn more Do-Jo points. You can encourage your child to speak Chinese in Chinese class by giving him or her small rewards daily or giving him or her bigger rewards weekly. Having the students speaking Chinese in Chinese class is one of main goals in the Chinese Immersion program.

Thank you again for all of your support and please continue helping your students to learn Chinese.
