Week of Oct. 8-10


Parents,

Thank you for successful parent-teacher conferences! We both enjoyed visiting with each one of you, and watching the children “show off” their Chinese!

*Due to the short week, we will not have spelling tests. However, we will take last week’s test on Monday.

This week:
Chinese Homework-Math- More than & Fewer than
English Homework-Reading- Please continue reading every night 20 minutes and mark it on your calendar. Log on to raz-kids.com. Teacher username is A1-1 or A1-3. Your child should know their password.

In class, we are learning:
Math-subtracting from 12 (and below)
Language Arts- Looking for parts of a word we know to help us sound out a word, proper letter formation
Writing- 3 sentence summary (beginning, middle and end)
Phonics-Short vowel review
Chinese- What is your nationality?
Social/Science study- Fire Safety

Spelling Words: These will be talked about it in class, but not tested.
Blue: (long u) look, to, rule, cute, huge, June, all, as for, are
Yellow: (short vowel review) has, had, wet, sun, but, top, pot, red, him, pin
Red: (oi vs. oy) boy, toy, join, soil, moist, point, joy, that, very, two


We have a field trip coming up. October 23rd. We will be visiting the HeeHaw Farm in Pleasant Grove. This will be an opportunity for students to “learn more about animals and agriculture in an authentic farm environment.”
